I'm starting to warm up to the looks a bit now. Bright colors really make it look much better than the colors we saw at Geneva.(Photos from worldcarfans)
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
And the yellow contrast stitching is nice as well:
What say you?

So much want. If it drives any better than the 1st gen this thing will be incredible.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:45 |

I want as well, but I do miss the V8 as much as it apparently "sucks" in comparison to the V10. And I bet this will be Lambo money as well($200k plus). -_-
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:47 |

I drove a v8 one and I certainly didn't find myself wishing for more power. Thing was effortlessly fast and perfectly stable at speed.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:47 |
|
I still like the old one.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:49 |

I mean I'm all for having much power, but it does reach a point of being completely unusable; especially in a place like Michigan. I figure somewhere between 350-500hp is all I need to be happy. Many great cars in that range.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:50 |

Plus there's a V8 on the way according to autoexpress. "We've been told that a V8 and possibly even a V6, both turbocharged, will follow eventually ". Although I'm not sure a turbo engine would suit the r8 unless it's very smooth. The great thing about the one I drove was how smooth and strong the power delivery was across the whole rev range.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:51 |

I'm with you, but that new interior and rear end are quite good. It's just the front end that still kinda bothers me.
It kinda makes me think that it's gonna go up in flames...
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:55 |
|
I drove the v8 on track and got nowhere near it's limits. I'm not the worlds best driver and only got 3 laps to get used to it, but on the road I really doubt you'd get past half throttle before you get yourself into trouble.
Where I live power is almost pointless given the traffic and tight roads.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:55 |
|
I'm kinda against turbo cars right now(yes, I do drive one, bite me), but this are the best N/A engines will ever have, and the govt. and tree huggers are taking that away from me, so I must have one before they ruin everything!
I'm tired of engines that give up in the high rpms, even if tunes can fix that.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:56 |
|
True, but I guess there's also that feeling that it's nice to have all that extra power whenever you want to exploit it.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:57 |
|
Some cars really suit turbo power, but GT cars (yeah I think it's more of a sporty GT car than a supercar) like the R8 feel better with a nice flat torque curve.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:59 |
|
I never thought the R8 was a GT or supercar, just a sports car much like the 911. The only GT cars that do a good job with turbos are Mercs and Astons(well they will) IMO
![]() 03/28/2015 at 12:59 |

I duno, I feel like it'd just tempt me into getting myself into trouble. Apart from on track (which I only ever get to do every year or so in borrowed cars) I'm more of a fan of the slow car fast philosophy.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:01 |
|
The R8 is surprisingly comfortable and very easy to drive, it could actually make a pretty good DD, so it feels more of a GT car to me. The 4wd means it's not as agile as you'd expect a sports car to be, it just has masses of grip and stability.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:03 |
|
Don't get me wrong, I do love the slow car driven to the ragged edge philosophy, but that only works with older cars in my opinion because they're so light. Newer cars don't really adhere to that logic to me.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:04 |
|
I would totally DD one if given to me. Rain, shine, snow, you name it, I'd buy it to drive it, not store it.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:05 |
|
It depends what you drive really. My car only weighs 2000 pounds.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:05 |
|
Same here, not that it's something that'd ever happen haha.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:08 |
|
3200lb FoST, 2700lb 944, and 2300lb 911. The last two are more fun to drive to the ragged edge. A slow car has to be under 3000lbs minimum.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:09 |
|
Why wouldn't that ever happen?
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:11 |
|
No one is going to be giving me an R8 anytime soon.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:12 |
|
Doesn't mean you won't ever happen though. ;)
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:12 |
|
I think my sweet spot would be around 150-200hp in something between 2000-2500 pounds. Light enough to be fun and not enough power to tempt me into getting trouble when commuting.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:13 |
|
Meh. The exterior just kills it for me. I loved the old R8, but this one just doesn't look right.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:16 |
|
It looks as lifeless and mechanical and straight and edgy as a German car should. :p
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:18 |
|
About the same for me, but about 150-350hp, for funzies. :)
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:31 |
|
Lol, valid point. I can deal with the rear of it. That isn't too bad. But that front......... UGH.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 13:38 |
|
*Insert Zenvo ST1 reference here*
How are you enjoying the weather? :)
![]() 03/28/2015 at 14:00 |
|
That's exactly what it made me think of! Except WAY less violent.
Well, the snow storm yesterday pissed me off. But, since the snow is gone and its sunny again, its great! Hopefully it warms up a bit soon.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 14:16 |
|
It didn't even sit on the ground here it just fluttered about! When's your car comin out?
![]() 03/28/2015 at 14:23 |
|
Nope, still doesn't do it for me. Looks far too much like a GTA ripoff of an R8. I bet it is awesome to drive, though, and you don't have to look at it from the inside!
![]() 03/28/2015 at 14:29 |
|
But you have to admit the rear isn't that bad right? :p
![]() 03/28/2015 at 14:35 |
|
It looks alright. They basically took the old design and flattened it. Kind of like iOS 7, with it's "flat design" of the app icons.

I need dis.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 15:16 |

Sorry, had to run an errand.
Lucky you. It was like full force snowing around here for an hour or two. It was all melted by about 3:00 though.
I'm not positive yet, but I'm hoping to get it out on the 2nd or 3rd week of April, depending on what's going on with the family .

Will you be going to the MSU car show on the 18th?
![]() 03/28/2015 at 16:37 |
|
Can't say I've ever heard of it. Got any info about it? Location, time, etc.?
![]() 03/28/2015 at 17:05 |

At MSU, Spartan Stadium Parking lot on Saturday April 18th from 8:00AM-3:PM. It's through the MSU racing club on Facebook.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 17:51 |

Huh. Cool! I'll have to check it out. I might be able to make it.

Here's my photodump from last year.

Damn, I may have to do that. Hopefully weather stays decent so I can get the 'Vette out.

I've been religiously following Accuweather for the past two months. All things point to a decent day with a large turnout.

Cool. I'll see what's going on, but it should be no problem, so long as nothing comes up.
![]() 03/29/2015 at 18:08 |

One of the biggest advantages of the V10 is that it has less carbon build up issues.
Apparently the V8 is one of the DFI engines that gets clogged up super quickly.
![]() 03/29/2015 at 18:11 |
|
I'll probably warm up to it eventually. But right now it still seems like a downgrade compared to the 2014 R8. Look at this one:
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/…
That is the perfect R8 to me. The interior is amazing. The only thing I would eventually change is the side blades. I prefer the carbon fiber ones.
![]() 03/29/2015 at 18:29 |
|
I'm not really a fan of exposed carbon fiber.
![]() 03/29/2015 at 18:30 |
|
Then I'll buy this car and leave it as-is and it will be perfect :D

Wow, she got a booty.
